House Details for During Your Stay
Things you need to know (including any rules or things to be mindful of) whilst staying at our home. Please be sure to review prior and during your stay, as needed.
Please don’t pull blinds up/down on the upstairs windows as they currently can only have the blinds shifted up/down/opened/closed.
TV & Lights
Google Home for Main Floor Lights
We are a google home household! All of the main floor lights (except ceiling fan/light), TV, and patio lights are operated by the google home in the kitchen.
- All of the switches and things should be in on position for this to work. Note, the living room TV is only able to work when the “TV Light” is turned on.
- Please see below for command prompts to say. Always start with “Hey Google”.
- Each of the lights have their own name where saying “Hey Google, turn on/off…” and the below will individually turn them on/off:
-
Bar Light
-
Dining Room Light
-
Cabinet light (under kitchen cabinets)
-
Kitchen light (overhead kitchen light)
-
Living Room Lamp
-
TV Light
-
Patio Light
-
Entryway Light
There are also groupings that are able to be used where saying the below prompts will turn on/off a grouping of lights:
-
“Hey Google, turn on/off accent lights” will do kitchen cabinet lights, bar light, entryway light, tv light, living room lamp, and patio lights. Set the mood!
-
“Hey Google, turn on/off overhead lights” will do the overhead kitchen and dining room lights.
The overhead kitchen and dining room lights can also be dimmed on their respective switches.
TVs
The living room TV will only work when the “TV Light” is on from Google Home prompt (see Google Home for Main Floor Lights section). When done with the Living Room TV, please be sure to say “Hey Google, turn off TV light”.
All TVs have streaming service apps on them and should all be logged in already.
-
Netflix
-
Hulu
-
Peacock
-
Paramount
-
Prime Video
For TV channels, us Peacock and go to the “Channels” option on the left hand side.
For the blue bedroom TV, sometimes the TV needs to be reset for the apps to work (steps below - takes all of 60 seconds).

Ceiling Fans/Lights
- All of the ceiling fans have switches that need to be in the on position (one for the light and one for the fan).
- Each fan then has a remote (that is next to the light switches on the wall) to operate the fan speed and light type/brightness.
- Sometimes when the lights are turned on, it is an “ugly” light, so use the light setting buttons to make your desired vibe :)
Kitchen & Bathroom
Kitchen
Most everything is self explanatory as far as settings and appliances.
-
Ice Maker: needs to be turned on. If you open the freezer door, push and hold the ice maker button until you hear a beep and see the light.
-
Soaps and cleaning products: are either under the kitchen sink or in the storage space behind the short door underneath the stairs.
-
Trash bags: are on the floor in the pantry.
-
Coffee Mugs: We’ve gotten quite the collection of travel mugs from our travels! Choose wisely as can only purchase them in those actual places, incase anything were to happen to them that might need replacement!
Bathrooms
Typically upon arrival, we like to do a splash of bleach or bathroom cleaner (and quick scrub of the toilet) as water has been stagnant since last visit.
-
Towels: are under the sinks in each of the bathrooms. Please don’t use any of the white rags/towels for makeup.
-
Toilet Paper: under the sink in each of the upstairs bathrooms and in the storage closet under the stairs for the downstairs bathroom.
-
Showers: for the master shower, please be sure to use the squeegee on the glass after each shower. For the Jack & Jack bathroom, please be sure the shower liner is on the inside of the tub when showering.
Trash & Recycling
There are two bins in the garage for trash.
-
Green Bin: for normal trash
-
Blue Bin: for recycling
Trash pickup (green bin) happens on Mondays and Thursdays. Recycling pickup (blue bin) is only on Thursdays.
The pickups typically happen in the morning 5-6am so suggest rolling the bins to the foot of the driveway the night before.
Please be sure to wheel back into the garage before end of the trash pickup days.
For trash considerations prior to departure, see the “Tasks for Departure” page.
Laundry & Pool
Pool
Pool Key is hanging on the hook by the garage door with the “palm tree” key chain :)
The HOA can be a little…weird…with the pool rules so use your judgement, but listing the formal key rules below. If they ask who you are, just mention friends/family staying at our place.
-
No alcoholic beverages (we drink out there all the time, just don’t make it obvious!)
-
Music is frowned upon, just don’t be blasting it!
-
Leave things the way you found them (ie chair positions, umbrellas closed, etc)
-
No smoking…unless you’re a pro at conspicuous vaping
Towels are all above the washer and dryer. Pool floats are in the garage. Sunscreen is beneath the Jack & Jack bathroom sink. We’re always welcome to any added or replenishment of supplies!
There is a bathroom out there that you will need the pool key to access.
Laundry
- Should be pretty self explanatory and all supplies (soaps, fabric softener, dryer sheets) are on the shelves above the machines.
- Please be sure to empty the lint catcher as needed.
- Leave washer lid open whenever not in use.
